77 k20 stereo
« on: September 06, 2013, 12:30:44 am »
ok so i have a 77 k20 and when i bought the truck it did not come with a radio or speakers and the only spot for speakers is behind the seat and on the sides theres a cut-out for a box but i was wondering where could i put 2 more speakers since there are no more cut outs and i don't want to cut my doors or anything.. also what would i need other then the boxes, speakers, and the radio deck. (plus id prob get 2 10 inch subs)... or would i be fine with 2 speakers and im just wondering how many did the truck come with from the factory? ... thanks

Depends on the trim in the truck....but the trucks had 2 2x10 in the rear cab corners, and most had either a single speaker in the center of the dash or two little 3" speakers on either end of the dash. With that answer your other questions, there is only two option if you do not want to cut holes in doors....put speakers in the 3 holes that are under the dash, or buy from this site the kick panels that have a spot for speakers. No cut outs behind the door panels, a lot of people cut out there own holes and mount speakers. However depends on the person some think it looks tacky other do not mind it....its up to you, how much you want to do and what look your going for (original or custom, etc.)

If you running subs and do not want them to mud out your speakers in the cab corners....your first step is to not put the stock 2x10 size in and make a mount for 6x9s instead (way better sound). Second is a head unit (radio) that supports pre-outs for subs and rears would be best because you could run an amp to the subs (which you have to, but if you hook it up to amp you will have separate controls then if you hook it up trough the rear speakers in a pass filter).

However since you are asking a lot of these questions (on what to mate to what and if the subs will muttle) I think your better bet would be to take it to best buy or a car audio shop by your house and have them help you. Because if you do not know anything about it, you may or may not get the sound you are wanting. Because you also want to make sure your amps match well with your speakers, because if the amp is to low rated it will burn up faster. Over isn't such a big deal but then your paying a lot more. It all depends on how far you want to go, I mean in my car I have it set up just like home theatre surround sound and I have a sub, but I do not have it turned up to shake the whole block (it can) its just not how I like to run it. I have crossovers and filters, so I have two speakers as the center with the high noises and voices, and then the 4 door speakers do the mids and the sub does the lows. And I can turn the system up so loud that I can not be in the car with it, but I don't I just bought expensive stuff because I wanted the sound quality.

Hope this helps and I was not just rambling.

There is places to mount 2 3.5" speakers in the dash on each end, and we sell kick panels to mount 6.5" speakers.
