Then on the other side of the block I have this any suggestions.

It looks like the oil sender to me. I had one like it on my 86 Blazer. Not saying that that's what it is but it looks the same. It's low on the passenger side it seems.

That is the end of the starter to the left. I think I am getting ready to peel all the wire loom off and try and find a wiring diagram that actually shows all wires and where they are from and where they go. Any ideas

I think I have been advised to switch to a 4 pin distributor which would make ESC obsolete. I did not know this it might make things simpler.

Just bypass the ESC it is much easier...  You have a number of threads all over the place on the same issue.  Next time please keep them together.
