problems with flip kit axle relocators
« on: May 16, 2015, 09:28:00 am »
I bought the flipkit/relocators from a seller on ebay. They are the basic type that are made out of flat stock.

My problem is that they allow over 2" of axle rotation. all Flip kits I have ever installed lock the axle tube between the spring perch and the leaf spring and there is never movement. Is this normal? I have included a couple picks thank you

this shows how the brackets leave a gap that allows the axle to rotate

Exactly! This is unfortunately one of those: "Ya' get what you pay for". I really wouldn't trust that even if it went all the way up to the old perch due to the uprights having no support. I'm not a big fan of Flip Kit design in general due to the added "moving around" part & leverage, however if you're going to do one, I'd suggest something like hobbz posted. My Two Cents, Lorne

I ended up doing what I have done in the past. I went down to the tractor supply and bought some spring heavy duty spring perces and drilled another hole 1" forward. I will set the pinion angle and weld them up. It looks like the seller will take back the flip kit. I refuse to use it with all that axle rotation
