Bd I don't remember my bolt being that high in the bracket on my 86 is that normal

His truck is a '75 model.  The '86 models used a different configuration.

In other words... if people learn by making mistakes, by now I should know just about everything!!!

Thanks everyone.
I had a long winded reply ready to post when it occurred to me that maybe I have the wrong water pump.

I'll be back later today if I have time to measure my water pump and run to the store to measure a new one.
If not I'll be back tomorrow.

Thanks again. I'll be back.

There are really only two types of water pumps for the SBC; long and short. Your water pump IS the correct pump but something else is not correct.

Also looking at previous pictures it seems like your reservoir for the steering pump is WAY to far over as it needs to be sitting more upright.

I know when I was putting my truck back together I was having stupid issues everywhere and the power steering pump wasn't fitting correct. It wasn't until I realized that the new timing tab I put onto the truck was interfering with the cradle bracket for the pump.

So instead of going and getting a new timing tab I just modified the cradle for the steering pump.

It is just a funky angle of the picture. You can see the valve cover is vertical. The filler neck is close to vertical if I had taken that picture looking straight down.

This is an interesting drawing.
The brackets are the same as mine but the pump has a threaded shaft with a keyway. The shaft on my pump is longer and press fit.
I looked at a pump like that at Napa today ('69 Camaro) it fits my brackets and it has a shorter shaft which I need. The problem with that one was they don't carry a pulley for it.

The last drawing VileZambonie posted is my pump with a pressed on pulley but different brackets.

I think we're on to something.

That's an actual Gm parts manual pic. I will say you have the wrong pump again.
Should have the keyed pump with a nut holding the pulley on from what I see.
Also explains the vertical angle being wrong that you mentioned.

75 C10?

I agree(d) with you. The pump is the most likely suspect.
Every brick and mortar and online store calls for the pump I have but the drawing you posted from the manual shows differently.

I have a '75 K10 w/o AC.
I'm guessing the pump I have maybe for an AC truck however none of the searches I have done including the manual offer any options for the pump.

I am going to hunt down a pulley and nut for the short shaft pump you pictured.
Is that the style pump you have?

Yes, look at a pump for a 74. Don't think the maters as far as A/C for the pump only the pulley is a double.

Gmpartswiki.com is a great site for part applications  and numbers.
