Wheel noise?? Help!!!
« on: March 02, 2016, 08:56:04 am »
I just bought an 82 Custom Deluxe and it started making a "rattling" noise coming from the front/passenger side. It still has the factory rally wheels with the beauty ring. The noise sounds like its something loose. I have checked everything and all seems tight. It almost has a "ping" type sound like it might be the center cap but they are tight. u-joints are good. does it even when in neutral.  Is there something that i am overlooking?

Have you checked the wheel bearings? I've driven two different vehicles with bad wheel bearings and there was no noticeable difference in the way they drove but once you started moving they started making noise, on my car it was a low almost inaudible metal on metal sound and on a  2006 (i think) f150 at work the rear wheel bearings were going and at anything more than parking lot speeds and the grinding noise would travel all throughout the truck
