1987 v10 fuel issues

Hello All !
I have a problem I cannot figure out . Perhaps I am missing something ? Long story short :
Key on =power to fuel Solenoid (I tested it it is good)
= no power going to tank switch
I have run the truck momentarily with jumpers to the wires that go back to the rear of vehicle. Both pumps work . The truck has undergone a engine transplant. This has been a year long process. Through out the process there seamed to be an intermittent issue with this . With all the fuel wires, switch , solenoid , oil pressure switch , intact , I've got nothing .
I know where the feed wires exit the firewall and go to the tanks .
Where do the wires that go to the fuel switch come from ? I believe they come from the solenoid??
Where to look ? Are there any common problem areas ?

If you jump B+ to the test terminal at the fuel pump relay does it run on either tank?

If I power up the solenoid, I get power to the tan /white wire . So have power going out . I have taken the switch out (temporarily) . With a test light , I tested the wires going into the back of the switch . I have nothing there ...?
I have been working on this problem for a long time . I am stymied . I am thinking that the wire (tan/white) is broken between these points . Does it go straight from the solenoid to the switch ?

What I mean by power up is , I get power "going out " of the tan wire .

What solenoid are you talking about? If you want help diagnosing your problem, you need to have everything connected correctly and nothing bypassed or unhooked

Sorry , my terminology is wrong . When I used the word "solenoid" I was referring to the fuel relay.

Okay so with everything hooked up, if you run a B+ to the pigtail at the fuel pump relay, does it work in either tank position and or do you hear either fuel pump running?

Thank you for backing me up and telling me to start over . I went back through it again , and I found that , that switch was um kind of intermittent. I do believe that that was the problem . I only get a bit of time here and there to work on it . I will post again if I run into another problem

the switches do get a gummed up and will work like you described. think theyre $15 at the parts stores
