Window Glass Needs Glued
« on: June 25, 2016, 09:58:10 am »
I replaced my window regulator and when I rolled down the window the glass came out of the channel. What kind of glue can I use to glue it back together?

I also found that the regulator didn't have a bend like the old one. I'll fix that by bending it using he old one as a guide.

Post pics before you bend up the new one.  The bend might have been the cause to why it failed?  I use silicone to "glue" windows, don't know it that is right but it has worked fine for me

I compared it to the GM original and the aftermarket was straight in one area when it should have a slight bend like the original. It was not because the aftermarket was bent, it was because it wasn't bent.

3M 8609 windshield urethane.
Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs

I favor windshield urethane as well although you could get away with an adhesive sealant like the right stuff RTV as long as you let it setup properly.

After getting the correct bend in the regulator, I ended up using some E6000 glue I had laying around. So far so good.

windshield urethane for the world! its way better than duct tape lol! They also make an epoxy that we use to fix this same problem on dodge windows. If your fix doesn't hold up i would go with windshield urethane, and if you can get some primer for it apply it to the areas that the urethane will attach the glass to regulator
