17" Rims 2 Crave on a 1986 K10 Silverado
« on: September 30, 2017, 05:19:07 pm »
Good day/evening!

Has anyone ever had success with either a custom tie rod or some kind of spacers, on each lug nut, on the back side of a rim (prob not a good idea). I have some 17" 2 Crave rims and they don't clear the tie rod ends.

thanks,

You can buy 2" adapters but of course they will move the wheels out 2". Are you just trying to use them because you have them or do you actually like them?

Hey VileZombie,

I actually have them and we put them on, but truck was just sitting in drive way and yesterday we tried to move it and it would not go in reverse. Finally, we figured out that the tie rod was scraping the inside back of rim. We bought on craigs list, but from a tire shop that said they would fit.....prob a silverado, but not a late model.

It's like 3/8 off....

2" spacers would not give us any room to get a lug back on. We may have toasted the rims as we have a gash around the passenger side inner of 3/8 as I thought the breaks were just frozen up after the 5" of rain we received with irma.

I also though about grinding the rim or taking a to a machine shop and having them grind the 3/8" uniformly off.

The 17" rims really look good with a 6" lift.

thanks,

Ok, I appreciate the info.  I'm not sure I want to "bulldog" them out. May try to build a jig and grind down 3/8 of an inch.

If those spacers move em out too far you could have a machine shop make some from 3/8 steel

Or you might could get a old brake rotor and cut off everything but the part where the lug nuts are
