Ok ive got the 1987 350 mounted into the 1986 K5, ive found a pink/black stripe wire im using for HOT in RUN or START, i have run a 30A waterproof inline fuse from the BAT + and am running a relay for the ECM 1 and ECM B circuits. I also made sure to connect the orange lead to the PCM directly after the fuse so that it has constant 12V+. I am getting the signal for the fuel pump, and its turning on like normal (i need to prime it, but for my tests i used starting fluid right down into the bores of the TBI)
I am not however getting spark signal yet, and i havent tested to see if im getting injector pulses, but i do know they are both geting power. i tossed my back out at work today, and its dropping fast outside (like only 45F right now and dropping to 33F) so i called it quits for tonight.
Im not totally concerned with getting the dash working as this will only be a daily driver for long enough to get the suburban back together, and will be getting a set of mechanical gauges anyway so im not really worried about getting those hooked up except maybe the temp.
I still have like 4 wires that went into the fusebox area on the old firewall that are not connected to anything, and i have 2 plugs that dont have anything connected to them, possibly a 3rd, ill have to crawl under and take a better look.
I just want to know what is the bare minimum connections for the TBI to start pulsing the injectors and the coil? EGR and O2 are irrelevant right now, just want to it to fire over, then i can start ironing out the kinks
I went to the thread at
http://forum.73-87chevytrucks.com/smforum/index.php?topic=11766.0 but that hasnt really been very helpful other than the basic power and ignition wires, my colors dont match up and it keeps mentioning : carb control this, carb control that" and i dont have a carb... soo
any good resources for the "first gen" TBI?
