Is there any difference between buying an LED bulb vs. buying a complete assembly? Specifically the tailights, but also in general?
Example:
The technostalgia lights available in the store vs. buying two 2057 led bulbs?

The LED bulb will work in the original socket and probably a lot cheaper.one thing that I have noticed in switching to LED is you will probably need to change flasher box to a solid state because they do not draw as much current as the incandescent bulbs causing a quick flash as if you had a bulb out.
Hope this helps.

Not really, i bought LED circuit boards for the brake lights, but everything else is LED bulbs in the original sockets.
