Engine bogs and slowly gains momentum
« on: March 02, 2007, 12:29:00 am »

Model: Blazer
Engine: 305

Carb: 1985 or 1986 quadrajet

When I'm driving, as I slowly give the truck more throttle it seems to bog and almost die.  I have to pump the throttle to keep the engine going.  Also, when I give it full throttle, the engine seems to bog and almost completely dies and then it gradually gains some momentum and starts to run really good at full throttle, but when I let off the gas and try to drive normal, it wants to bog and die at about half throttle or so.  I almost did'nt make it home.  Does this make any since.  Can someone help me out?  Oh yeah, and I might have messed up the vacuum lines.

It sounds like you have a vacuum leak, how did you "mess up the vacuum lines?"

Do you have a kinked fuel line? Clogged fuel line/filter?

I don't think the vacuum lines were right in the first place, but what I tried to do is hook them up correctly according to the diagram on the front of the truck.  Needless to say it did'nt work.  I think I might be missing a couple of check valves or something.  What I'm thinking of doing is just blocking off everything except the pcv and the vacuum advance and see how that works.

P.S.  No kinked fuel line as far as I can tell.
