Rear end capacity

I just did so work to rear [9 1/2 gear] and was told the rear should hold 6 quarts of fluid.  But when filling it only took  just shy of 4.  truck is a 1983 4x4.  Any help would be appreciated.  thanks Jim:)

Aprox 4 quarts sounds about right.

Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs

It calls for 4.2 pints. That's just over 2 quarts. Make sure you don't overfill it!
