Here is my project for the winter!
« on: November 23, 2006, 03:11:00 pm »
Hey guys, here is a pic of my 79 K20. It has just become my project for the winter due to drive train complications and was wanting some ideas for what to do with it. I know it's ugly but here it is. So far all that has been modified is the engine and transmission. Engine is a 400 sbc cranking around 500hp. Mostly what I am looking for is body ideas and such. Any info would be helpful.

Thanks
Brian

Body ideas? Lose the bed and put a fleetside bed on it. What did you due to your 400 that it's making 500HP?

What you don't like the flatbed? Just kidding I don't either, I actually have a fleet side to go on it just haven't done it yet. The engine was actually built by a place called Southwest 4X4 in Ohio. Don't rmember exactly what all has been done to it but I still have the dyno sheet from the tests they performed on it. I'm not a big fan of the engine because I didn't build it but have another 400 that I am building myself to go in it. This one has been in the truck for about 4 years and has accumulated around 80k miles and ruined 6 transmissions. Too much torque for a th-350 but haven't had the time to change it out with anything. Was thinking of going with a 700r4 but still want to stay with the np203 transfer. I just don't know what I want to do with the truck and have seen many of them restored and they all look good but I want this one to be unique. Most of the ones I've seen all look the same and everyone seems to be doing core conversiond to the early 90s Sububan front ends.
