4x4 Front End?
« on: April 22, 2006, 12:08:00 am »
Well, my other thread was deleted or something happened... I'm not sure why, but sorry if I did something wrong..

Anyways, I'm looking for some pictures of the entire front end assembly underneath my 4 wheel drive 80 cdeluxe. It has dana 44, that I know.. If anyone could provide some pictures, or point me to some that has explination of everything I would greatly appreciate it. I'm trying to figure out exactly what I messed up, so I can get my truck running again. I think I bent something, but I can't tell.. Any help would be appreciated :hat

You might want to check out ck5.com if you haven't already. Its a site dedicated to the 69-91 4x4 blazers. I am sure you could find something over there. Just make sure you stick around here too. This is a great site.

Why do you think you bent something? About the only thing you can easily bend is the tie rod. If you bent the whole housing you would have to be doing some serious abuse.

Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs

Why don't you take some pix of your front end and post them on here. Then we can tell you what you may have bent.

The truck was wrecked, I hit a ditch about 35-40... whole side of the driver front end was pushed back about a foot (compared to the passenger).. I can only turn the one way.. Something on the driver side is sticking, or because it's pushed back..

Well if it's pushed back a FOOT I'd say more than something is bent!:rollin    Sounds like everything is bent. First of all make sure the frame is square, the axle and leaf springs are positioned correctly. Check the steering arm coming off of the drivers side steering knuckle. Make sure the steering box is mounted securely to the frame and is not moving from the frame when you steer. Make sure the drag link that attaches the steering arm to the pitman arm isnt bent. Make sure the center link rod end(the long bar) is straight, make sure your steering stabilizer isn't bent. But seriously if this thing is pushed back a foot it never will steer correctly with an ackerman system.

It sheered off the bolt going through the springs on the driver side, the only thing that looked bent was the add-a-leaf.. I'm going to move it foward and see if I can figure something out.. Thanks so far.
