You are correct.  They make a socket to fit a ratchet so you can get extra leverage to break them loose.

OK got the bottem bolt out BUT the top is
stripped and I can't get the hex socket to work to get
it off...PITA
Tried vice grips but no luck
Was thinking of cutting the shaft of the bolt that
I can see closest to me but not sure if that will help
Any help please

Beat it in there good and make sure it sits square before you wrench on it. If you've already destroyed it try pounding a torx bit in there or a triple square. If that doesn't work try a tapered 3/8" extractor. These are really good extractors http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=extractor+proto&hl=en&cid=3291193871218559757&sa=image#p

Why in the heck didn't they just use a bolt head???...lol
I JB welded a cutoff bolt in there but doubt that will work
Is there a way to cut it off?It looks like the threads go into
the spindle?
