Filling voids

Are there any downsides to filling rust-prone void areas like the cab corners and rockers? I'm making progress on my cab corner repair and thought about filling them with expanding foam. Maybe the rockers too. Thoughts?

I did it to my last two trucks. I filled the inner rockers and the cab corners in with great stuff.

It makes sense really. That way water has no place to get in there. Same with the inside of the rear fenders up top abovel the wheel openings. There's access to get the spray foam nozzle up there.

I wouldn't put it in between the fenders though. It may trap more crap and you wouldn't want to see it between the body lines

Ah okay. Right now I have sprayed some rust preventative stuff in the rockers and cab corners, among other areas. Basically a mineral oil sort thing, not totally unlike WD40 but more water resistant.

Just be careful with stuff like that before you paint. If you don't totally remove all of that penetrating oil it will fish eye your paint bad when you go to paint it.

Gotcha. I keep that stuff to the inside of the body and not the outside. I made sure to wipe down any previously-treated panels with a degreaser to remove any oils.
You know of a decent seam sealer that's available in a small tube? I don't need a lot so I don't have to have to by a whole big tube and the gun to go with it.

It's cheap enough in a caulking tub but they do sell it in a tooth paste tube. your autopart store should carry it. hint: get an acid brush and a small cup of thinner to smooth out your seam sealer after you apply it. Works mint.
