speedometer

my speedometer was messed up . when i went to fix it i found out that the small plastic gear that runs it was chipped off. Can i just replace that gear? or will it just happen again.? what are some causes of this?

Yes you can replace it.  Age is the only thing I can think of that would break one, the cable could kink/bind but I wouldn't think it would break teeth off the gear.

That's how they calibrate speedos, by replacing the plastic gears. hopefully your's is not in the tranny floating around.

do you know if the gears are the same on a th350 as the one in the granny fourspeed manual that came out int hose years because i have several of those
