4wd Lock light question
« on: May 13, 2007, 04:54:37 pm »
I recently picked up a 79 scotty with 350/SM465/NP205 setup. Should there be a 4wd lock bulb that comes on in the cluster like my other 79 that has a NP203 with a TH350? If so, it's time to start chasing wire  >:( and see where the problem lies.

I just picked up a '79 Scotty last night and didn't see any 4x4 lamp.  Where would it be?  Of course I don't think a single light in my dash works....

Both should have the lamps, it will be under the speedometer (in the recessed area)  Check the bulb to see if it is burned out.

Discovered my bulb is gone!  :D

Must be stuck on and PO got sick of it.  I'll reinstall.  If nothing else it will look cool.

Finally tore the cluster out today (stupid clutch bracket in the way, and discovered there's no pigtail to plug into that socket. I looked high and low but couldn't find the 2 wire lead (white and pink/black IIRC). So either mine doesn't have it or it was removed. One of these days I'll have to crawl underneath and see if the switch is present on the T Case and go from there.

The light doesn't have a pigtail.  It is part of the printed circuit.

On my other 79, there's a 2 wire lead that ends in a socket that the bulb pops in to, and then you twist that on to the cluster case/circuit board.

That would be on a 203 case, I have never seen one on a 205.  208 cases had them as well.

So I'm guessing there's no provision for the 205 and the 4wd lock light then? Just thought it would be cool to have another gadget to play with.
