How do I determine interior colors?
« on: November 22, 2007, 03:16:12 pm »
I am working on a 1980 Chevy C-10 Silverado.  I want to keep it as original as possible.  How do I figure out what the correct color for the inerior parts is?  It is blue, but badly faded.  I can't tell if it was light blue, dark blue, medium blue, or just blue.  I'm talking about carpet, dash, head liner, door panels, and all the trim pieces that fit around the windshield.  Is there a code I should get off the glovebox sticker?  Or possible some way to look up the VIN?

Thanks,

T.J.

Well, I ran all the applicable RPO codes...just for fun, and none of them give me the interior color for all the trim (door panels, dash, etc.)  Does anyone have any other ideas.  Did they not list the interior colors in the brochures or anything?  Anyone have a 1980 dealer notebook?

well, as far as i've always known, you won't get the color for EACH individual piece.  you normally get the seat and maybe carpet color...you have to match the rest to it...

The only color listed is the exterior color and the interior color.
Flip the door panel over to see what the color was, it possibly will list the colors on the back, or it won't be faded on the backside.

there was only one blue avail in 80 ;if you have your glovebox sticker it should have a line showing  one of these codes VDD1,XDD1,NDD1,LDD1 depending on your interior level;the dealer sales albums have all this info and are usually available on e bay...you may also find the build sheet for your truck under your seat ...a few silverados came with a 2 tone interior ...we have one with white seats and door panels and red carpet and dash ...

Yes, I have the LDD1...I thought that was just the code for the seat.  So what does LDD1 indicate?

Thanks!!

The plastic kick panels under the dash shouldn't be faded.  For interior match up I would take the ash tray door off and look underneath.  It should give you an idea of what it is.  I did that for my truck and matched the plastic and made paint to match.  If the doors are original there is unfaded paint under the door panels.  My $.02
