Going to need to notch it out for the hood relase if your keeping the original location, or move the release to inside the cab like I plan on doing mine in the future ;)

Most decent grille manufacturers leave enough room to stick your fingers in there to pop the hood.

Just popping this on the back re grills- can you guys buy "fancy" ones rather than the OE replacement?

Sure Bitzer. They're called after-market grills. Can you see the one on Vilezambonie's avatar? There are also some available from   (Long Motor Company) in their catalogue.

I have a 1977 Chevy with a billet grill.  The grill I bought came with a kit to relocate the latch down to the lower splash apron right above the bumper.

I got mine from   and it too came with a rod that went into a hole drilled in the original latch to access the latch from below the splash shield, but it was not the right one, so I just reach through mine and I have some big fingers and the don't usually get stuck, just some scraped up knuckles once in a while.

I got my grill from Chevy Duty (Classic Parts)

The grill is made by a company called Carriage Works http://www.carriageworksinc.com/
