help me out with suggestions before I screw something up..
« on: February 04, 2008, 02:38:08 pm »
I got my truck back from the body shop finally..They had it 9 monthes...Anyway .,, here is a question you all have heard a million times...I have drop spindles on front and shackles on back..I need to drop my truck another 2 inches in front and possibly 3 inches in back...I am probably going to use lowering springs in front and lowering leafs in the back...Whats the chance of scrubbing in the front? Also whats the benefit of lowering coils when i could just cut the front springs....

Run a 2" spring in front and use a hanger kit in the back.  What are the TOTALs you are hoping from front/rear?  4/6?  4/4?

Shackles are shackes, hangers are hangers.  That is a confusing question?

Shackles alone will only drop it 2" max, hangers combined with shackles drop it 4".

BTW, truck looks good.

If you want to be 6" down in the rear put the stock shackles back on and get a flip kit.  If you want a softer ride (or you don't like the ride now) get lowered springs and put the stock shackles back on.

I am guessing you have shackles and hangers now if you are 4" in the rear...

I dont want to do the flip kit...I'm not gonna worry about the frame being hit....  The lowering leafs really what i had in mind... the front is what i'm worried with....What do you sell..do you have the front and rear springs?

Anytime you go over 5" of drop in the rear regardless of how you achieve it, you are in jeopardy of hitting the frame.
I don't sell lowering leafs for the back, only drop coils for the front.  I have a flip kit for the back.  The problem is do you want to remove all of the stuff on the rear now.  If not, your only option is to get custom made springs.

I lowered mine like this, Belltech spindles and cut the front coils. Made no difference in ride or handling in a negative way just had to reset the camber. For the rear I flipped the axle and put the stock sckles back in. I put 265/50's in the front and went with 26" Mickey thompsons in the rear. The truck sits perfect and looks good without having a crappy ride which is nice. I think I'm going to try the Caltracs traction bars and see if they help for now until I redo my suspension next year.
