Found out all the specs about the Engine:

The Vin said is was built for a 1987 Pontiac Trans Am GTA. This is also the same type on engine used in the '87 C4 Vettes.

According to what I've found CR is 9.5:1 and HP output for the 87 TPI's was 235HP and 340Ft/lbs of torque

it's got Gen I heads which are centerbolt but are apparently not Vortec heads which has me confused cause I thought all center bolt heads where Vortec type heads, so I have no idea what the difference is....
Anyway, they have 64cc Chambers, 1.94" Intake Valves, 1.50" Exhaust Valves

I havent actually checked the numbers on the cam but it should be the LT4 350 "Hot Cam" type that GM makes its 218/228 .525/.525 and 112 Lobe CL, but I'll have to get the numbers off it if I can without taking it out, and see what it is....

Anyway, I've got a question here it is:

The engine didn't come with the TPI baseplate, runners and plenum, these items are not cheap even used, I've checked one junkyard near the house and found nothing, got a few others to check, but I'm wondering if a LS1 intake will fit? or would I have to get Vortec heads for that?

Dan, No TPI engines had Vortec heads. The Vortec heads didn't come out until 1996. They DO NOT have the 4 center intake bolts. I also do not think the "hot cam" your referring to was a production cam in that engine. No, the LS 1 intake will not fit the heads you have or the Vortec's, it is a completely different animal. well, I can't get the cam #'s without pulling it out, why don't the just stamp that on the end of it. Anyway, I kinda figured it wouldn't fit, just thought I'd ask. So now I've got to track down the chaepest TPI setup I can or else let this engine sit for like a year until I can afford the Edelbrock or Gm performance parts setups...I'm gonna go check a couple junkyards today wish me luck...

Might want to check this out..  LT1 Intake on a TPI block  You can also google LT1 intake conversion
http://s10wildside.com/wildside/lt1induction.htm

http://www.lt1intake.com/services.htm  This place sells them converted for $400 with a fuel rail.
