RUGER® SR9™ PRODUCT SAFETY WARNING AND RECALL NOTICE
DO NOT USE YOUR RUGER SR9 PISTOL
We have determined that some Ruger SR9 pistols manufactured between October 2007 and April 2008 can, under certain conditions, fire if dropped with their manual safeties in the "off" or "fire" position. The pistols will not fire if the manual safety is in the "on" or "safe" position.

We will retrofit all Ruger SR9 pistols starting with serial number prefix “330” (330-xxxxx) with these new parts at no charge to our customers.

In order to ensure correct fitting, this new part must be installed at our Ruger factory in Prescott, Arizona. We will remove the old parts and install the new group promptly, at no charge, and will return the pistol to you. The old parts will not be returned.

Step 1 - Contact us and provide your name, address, telephone number and SR9 serial number.

GLOCK is the best pistol out there.
But, to be realistic, any gun may fire if dropped.  It's pretty darn hard to drop a gun.  I qualify annually at our shooting range with a line of usually 20 other deputies.  In my 17 year career, I cannot recall a single instant when someone "dropped" their weapon.  It is not common.

My father worked for Ruger for 23 years. I remember as a kid Bill Ruger would come to our house for dinner a few times a year.
I agree any weapon can fire if dropped just right. The safety should make it 99% impossible though.
When I was a kid the local chief of police wore a Stetson cowboy hat, an 8" knife on one hip, & an 8" double action 357 mag on the other. He would always keep six rounds in it. My old man would always tell him you are asking for trouble. He would lay it on the passengers seat of his tin top CJ5 if not on him. One day he was driving down a washboard spring muddy road, the gun bounced off the seat onto the floor. When it hit it fired, round went through the brim of his Stetson, & right through the roof of his Jeep.
Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs

I love my Glock model 17--i bought it from my department when we converted over to a model 23 .40 cal.  In fact, that model 17 was my first semi after the department when away from the revolvers---I still have my SW model 65 .38/.357 magnum double action....I qualified with it when i was in my academy and got Top Gun with it.  ;D

The model 23 is slightly smaller, and I have big hands.  I used to qualify 99.6% with my 17, but only average about 95 with the smaller gun.  I don't think I'm gonna buy that from the department when it is retired in a couple of years.

Never had a Ruger.

I have an old 41mag Ruger Single Action. Got it for hunting, when I was into that kind of thing. It never really felt "right". It is unbalenced and heavy.

My auto is a .45 ACP made by Remington during WII, this thing rocks the house and is surprisingly accurate.

I never got into Glocks (YET !) But I got plenty of S&W's.
645 45cal, sigma 40cal, 411 40cal, MP40 40cal.....  and some others. My favorite pistol for shooting would be the 411. However the 460 8 3/8" with Hornady 200gr SST is better for those 200 yard shots (hunting, with a rest) is the most fun at the range.
I've got a few Rugers,  but not the SR9.

From the looks of it Ruger is recalling every SR9 and paying shipping and a new clip. This kinda thing could hurt a company the way money is these days.

I only had S&W also, my first pistol I bought was a 411 40cal.  It is probably my favorite and most shot pistol.  I then got a Sigma 40cal and about 5 or so years ago I came across a Glock 45cal that someone was selling.  I picked it up fairly cheap.  Sad to say I have never shot it.

i used to have a Taurus 24/7 .40 S&W it was a great gun, i had to get rid of it awhile ago due to bad circumstances.  i just built an AR15 a few months ago, havent really got to shoot it much but i am in love with it.  next gun i would get will be a 1911 when i get my conceal and carry permit.  i love the .45, 100 years old and still probably the best handgun out there.

I work for Henrico Sheriff's Office and we were noted as being one of the first Law Enforcement agencies to use Glocks.  Glock used to have an ad campaign and eventually made 5 posters of different agencies patches on it.  Their slogan was,"First They Fired Us, Then They Hired Us". We were on poster number 2.  Our patch is marked on this pic....

I have one hanging upstairs at my house.  :D
