U.S. Body

has anybody had any experience with the us body fiberglass cabs? looks like quite a bit of fabrication to make them work...

Personally I have never used them. I can say I've worked with fiberglass and will never do it again though.

I have one of their one piece tilt frontends on my truck.  I would love to get a fiberglass cab, but it isn't in the budget right now.

i was think of saving up and going with the fiberglass cab, mainly so i dont have to worry about rocker panels rotting out, but they mention on the site there's quite some work needed and i was wondering how sturdy they were, would definatly be on a 4x4

Here are the instructions.  It isn't a matter of bolting it on and you're done.  You have to add the factory bracing, the dash...etc.

W :o W theres quite a bit involved to tackle that...I guess I'll be waiting until I feel a bit more adventurous  ::)

Could you imagine the power to weight ratio with a glass cab and front clip though? WOW, what a sleeper you could have...lol

Not if you want it to look straight. By the time you're done putting all that filler on top of it it probably wouldn't make a ginormous difference. I have yet to see a good out of the box straight fiberglass part for any car.

They USBody truck they built in the link I sent said they dropped about 1000lbs off the truck by replacing everything with fiberglass so you are looking at a 2800lb pickup.

The US Body piece I have is pretty straight out of the mold.  I haven't guide coat sanded it yet though.  Buy I know people who have used them on show trucks and were impressed with them.
