Hey, I am in the process of rebuilding and restoring my transmission.  I am wanting to know if there are any techniques or just what to do when painting the case.  Should I use primer? If there special paint?    Thanks for the tips!

Just make sure it's real clean. I paint mine with Rustoleum Hammered paint. I like the finish and it's cheap yet very durable.

Dupont makes a two part aluminum cleaner & etcher. There are other companies that make similar stuff. You clean it with Super Clean or something. Then use the 1st part cleaner, rinse, then brush on the etcher. Let it sit for a while, then rinse with clean water.
Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs

I painted mine with just cheap primer first. Then went over it with silver hammered paint like vile suggested. I didnt like that cause it looked like I was trying to paint it chrome or something so I painted over that with some cast iron gray hi temp engine paint. It looks great and is holding up real well.

Brush it on instead of spraying it. It comes out good. I'll take some pix if you want to see the ones I just built.
