New Carb question
« on: October 25, 2008, 12:18:45 pm »
Okay so I adjusted the float level and that seemed to help the dying when I came to a stop.

Now-

Does anyone know the best step by step way to adjust the idle screws on a Rochester Quadrajet? I have tried messing with the idle speed and the air/fuel mix but the truck hesitates quite a bit at different speeds. Thanks

Are you trying to fix a hesitation or an idle speed/stalling problem?

Check the accelerator pump. With the truck idling if you depress the accelerator pump plunger with a screwdriver. It should stall the engine.

As far as your idle speed, make sure you are completely off the fast idle cam and that the choke is fully open when you adjust your base idle.
