Fuel Question
«

Hey all, first HNY! I haven't logged on for well over a year or since the switch to the new forum and sort of amazed my temp password worked.
I have an 87 K10 Silverado LWB with the TBI 350 with about 10,000 miles on the new crate. Always run great until a day or two ago when I shut it off and attempted to restart it an hour later I get no fuel. I changed the fuel filter about a year ago. Before I start removing gas lines or rechecking the filter, is there a reset switch or a fuse for the fuel pump? I know it's fuel as I pour a sip of gas it fires and runs immediately for a few seconds.

Check your fuses first quickly. Your fuel pump relay has a bypass lead next to it that you can carefully use a jumper wire to energize the pump to verify the pump and wiring from the relay are good.

Thanks, Vile. Getting ready to check fuse first but where is the fuel pump relay located? BTW, I have dual tanks but only use the passenger side tank. Should I be able to hear the fuel pump when I use the jumper. I never hear the pump when normally starting because of the ignition buzzer. Dumb question here......why is there not a safety shut off (reset button) for the fuel pumps in case of an accident?

The fuel pump relay is mounted to the firewall to the left of the engine (passenger side) It's black and about 2.5 inches tall.
You should be able to hear the fuel pump anytime it's running, though you may have to stick your head in the rear wheel well to hear it.
There's no t safety shut off because it's an old truck, they just didn't have them yet.

Thanks, got the relay off.....which wires should I jump to verify the pump? There is also a red wire pigtail with spade terminal on the harness that attaches to nothing.
Assuming then if I hear the pump, the relay is bad?
