quick diagnosis
« on: November 24, 2008, 07:39:38 pm »
so i'm searching my local classifieds, and come across a 77 with no motor for 200.00. i checked it out, rockers are rotted, but i got a new set sitting in the corner for a just in case i ever need them case. i got doors and anything that would need replaced. i thought there was no motor at all, popped the hood and the valve covers are just torn off, and a towel's thrown over it. so there's a 350 in there, looks like he was trying to add some aftermarket stuff with the intake, etc...this baby faced 16yr old said he got sick of it, and let it sit. basically the engine overheated, locked up, and he hasn't moved it since. so his mother wants it gone.

better to bother to diagnose the issue, or just rip it out cuz he sounds like he cracked the block? cab's not in bad condition from what i could see, surface rust here and there from the paint wearing away, doesn't look too bad. i didn't get a chance to check the cab mounts but for 200 i figured i'd ask opionions considering my other project still isn't finished. but with all the leftover parts i have over, i could put two trucks together.

If you need the parts and have a place to store it. for $200, I would get it.
I would avoid the 2 truck think UNTIL you get the other one running.  Don't ask me why, lets just say I am on 6 and eyeing another one....

i'm thinking on putting two together. i'm gonna go over as long as the bed's not shot and the cab mounts are ok i'm getting it. she's willing to cut me a deal even off the 200 so i don't wanna pass it up. but if i'm gonna be having someone weld a whole truck together cuz i gotta swap everything over then i won't deal with the hassle. but i do have another cab and a bunch of parts already so it's just the actual labor involved. i have most of the parts already that i could see just from looking at it initially. i'll post some pics in a couple days so u can check out what i'm talking about...
