383 oil pan
« on: July 05, 2009, 06:04:32 AM »
Guys,

I am ordering a Blueprint engine 383 from summit this week. I have put my parts list together for what I will need. Really it sucks to have to change so much. I have added the Balancer and flexplate that I will need along with my new Cam and lifters, head gaskets, New head bolts.  The Problem is I know I cant use my current Oil Pan but also cant find one. Summit lists one Oil Pan that is for a stroker but its way to much money.  Any Idea which pan will work?   I do not want a stock steal pan that I need to ding to make work. Thats crazy.  My truck gets the crap beat out of it.    Any Oil Pan Idea's?

Looking forward to the new powerplant.   383 with Flat Tops. Performer RPM 64 cc heads, Performer RPM cam and Performer RPM intake.
Blueprint says with the 64 cc heads I will have 10:38/1.   I am thinking I will be around the 420hp mark.  I hopr the Perfromer combo pays off well.     I have everything figured out but this Oil Pan.        Lord I will I could use my Balancer and Flexplate off my 350. I hate knowing I have great parts I cant use anymore.

Are you sure your current oil pan won't work?  I bet most people that build a 383 DON'T use a stroker specific oil pan and don't have any issues.

I thought a regular 350 cid pan works.  I didnt think they were different.  Of course, I bought my 383 from arizona and it came with an oil pan, so i never tried my 350 pan.

if a 350 pan wont work, seems a 400 will if the bolt pattern is the same as the 350 block....that is if there is some clearance issues for a stroker using a 350 pan.

There is no special oil pan for a 383, just use the one that came on it.
