Air Conditioner Compressor Bracket

Currently have a compact air conditioner compressor but am getting a chrome, long compressor.  Are brackets for these old style compressors hard to come by?  Preferrably get one new or maybe a chrome one if one exists.  This is for a V-belt system.  Haven't really seen any to speak of.

Just get the stock ones chromed or powder coated.

If you're referring to the A6 yes it was a stock compressor that came on many GM vehicles including these trucks for lots of years. You didn't give us any specifics about your ride so it's hard to give you any better info.

go to a salvage yard and find them all day long.  Get a bracket and chrome it.

I may wind up having to find some at a salvage yard.  I don't know about "finding them all day".  Where I live, it's slim pickings as far as salvage.  Yards here purchase vehicles and crush them as fast as they can because it pays way more to crush for scrap than to sell parts and pieces off of it.  Unfortunately, the older vehicles are first to go because there are less of them on the road, fewer people needing parts, and they're heavy and worth a lot in the form of a cube of metal.

I bought a V5 looking compressor, but have an R4 looking compressor.  Going from short and fat to long and skinny (that's what she said).  Are there any brackets I can get for it?  The only thing I've seen for the long compressors is a bracket from Flowtech.   Part number - BIG-10042, but even that doesn't really look like what I may need.

it pays way more to crush for scrap than to sell parts and pieces off

if the salvage yard was smart, they would allow it to sit in a yard for two weeks or so, let people strip parts off, then crush.  that's what a place here does.  They all get crushed, just some parts get removed and they get paid for those parts.  Best of both worlds...and it is full of 70's pick up trucks.

Well you're not going to find stock 73-87 ac brackets for a V5. What engine do you have?

I wish I could talk them into that.  There are a few out there, I'm sure (been a while since I've been).  I'll have to look.

Engine is old, worn out 350 with 700R4 transmission.  1985 Silverado.  Ordering a remanufactured long block 350 in the next couple weeks once I get parts squared away.  Next time I'm at Advance (where I'm ordering engine and some other stuff), I'm gonna' ask about an AC bracket for an older pick-up.  The '70's models had the long style compressor, didn't they?  I worked on a 1970-something Suburban with a friend a few years back and it had a long style compressor.  Unfortunately, my memory is as long as my you know what and I don't remember what the brackets look like in the least.

Don't waste your time at advance asking them for brackets. Contact the manufacturer of the compressor and ask them what they recommend. Is the whole purpose of this because you have a chrome compressor? If so and your truck is already ac equipped just shelf that thing or ebay it and save yourself the hassle.
