Just got this 79 for my son he is 13 now so that gives us 3 years to get it right. It has a Vortec 350 with a turbo 350 tranny and runs good just need to work on the body and interior. Look forward to talking to y'all as we work on it.

Thanks for the welcome guys. We are really looking forward to starting on this truck. I am going to look at a stepside bed a guy has for sale this weekend. Maybe the fenders will be in better shape. Gonna pull the bed and start on the brakes. All the lines look shot so I have to add that to the list too.

Cool truck. Are you planning on keeping it yellow?

Welome aboard.
Glad to see another stepside on the site..If you decide to leave it yellow i say go for the brightest yellow you can find. Looks real good from the pics.. The front of the hood i see the typical rust but any local vendor sells that section at a reasonable price....
thanks

Thanks guys, I think we are going to keep it yellow, the color on it now is 76 corvette yellow but has faded, The interior paint is still nice and bright though. He wants to go yellow with black accessories. And we will probably go with a cowl hood too. He still cant make his mind up on a rim combo. I like the old school wide 15 inchers but we will see. He is getting some great ideas from looking at the trucks on here.

I prefer the look of the old school wheels over the bling blings myself too. It'll be a nice truck!

Welcome and hello from Montana!! I like you truck of course because it is basically the same color as mine. Check out my 77 stepside project thread and if you are interested, click on the link to my Picasa album which shows my project. I am also keeping mine the bright Corvette yellow. Good luck with your project. As anyone here will tell you, all you need to do it right is lots of time and money!!! Looking forward to watching your project progress.
