305 help
« on: May 31, 2009, 08:48:55 pm »
I have an 86, LWB, w/305 in it.  I had cooling trouble and lost antifreeze.  Got that fixed and filled with water till I got more.  Was driving it for a few days and it left me stranded on the highway about 25 miles from home.  Had it towed home and found out it was the carb that went bad.  Parked it and found another car to drive.  Forgot all about the water in the system, and you guessed it, these Ohio winters don't do trucks any favors :-[ :-[.  I know have water leaking from the bottom of the heads on both sides.  Is there a slim possibility that it could be the head gasket?  Or is it my worst nightmare and the heads cracked?  I wanted to put the 305 in my s-10 when I get a 350 rebuilt :'(.  I might have to rush the 350 ;).

Thanks for the help...

You'll have to pressure test it to tell.
