Diff Fluid Level

2001 Ford Expedition  4.6L
Can anyone tell me if the rear differential fluid level should be to the bottom of the fill hole?  The vehicle is about to be used on a trip from Houston, TX to Orlando, FL. And I noticed a small diff. leak and want to make sure it has the proper level of lube.  Thanks
