6.0l engine swap into '78 Chevy 1/2ton, 4x4

Ok, so I just joined the site today lookin for info on the previously mentioned swap. I think I have a great oportunity to pick up a wrecked '01 2500hd with the 6.0l engine for cheap. Im currently using my '78 Chevy 1/2ton 4x4 as my daily driver b/c I only live a few miles from work, but have future plans of making it a trail/mud truck. I know the 6.0l will be far superiour on many levels verse the old 350 for on and off road driving. So just in the little I've been reading I've already got lots of great info on motor mounts, egine/trans mounting and exhaust. I've read a few posts where other guys have done this same swap. I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of futher info. Past posts, websites, magazines, any info will be very appreciated.
Thanks in advance guys, I already know my wife won't be, but Im sure glad I found this site!

I think I remember seeing a radix charged 6.0L in a older blazer(pre-73). I bet it was one heck of a off-road-rig. Maybe you could look into something like that. Used Radix kits are going for decent prices these days and you'd have tons of power with decent gas mileage. The swap isn't too bad. I'd assume it's like any other motor swap, except you have to make sure you got the right parts for the job...right motor mounts to place your motor where you want it(in relation to the trans), right headers or exhaust manifolds, good sensors(MAP,MAF,cam,Crank, Oil pressure, Temp), etc. Those are the things you need to consider ahead of time. Example: My first set of motor mounts/adapters set the motor 1" away from my stock TH350 trans, so I had to buy 1" setback adapters. Next I tried a few different sets of manifolds and none fit, I had to ask around a bit to find a solution. As far as the sensors and stuff goes, if you're gonna run the stock EFI, you need all the sensors and probably have the PCM tuned(get rid of VATS, Air bags, etc). If you plan on running carb, just keep the cam sensor, crank sensor, MAP sensor + coilpacks with harnesses. The oil pressure and temp sensor may not need changed if you go with the EFI, but with a carb, you'll probably have to drill and tap the waterpump for the temp, and buy the adapter for the oil pressure. Post up your progress and let us know how it's going for you. The guys on here helped me and encouraged me through the whole swap process. Good luck bro.

There was a fellow Texan looking into doing a turbocharged LSx powered monster truck a while back. Maybe a correctly sized turbo kit on a 6.0 would work awesome for you...if a "all-motor" 6L doesn't do it for you.
