Dropping the passenger gas tank on my 86 350

It has a nasty leak and I'm going to either fix or replace the tank.

About how far down can the tank come with the sending unit and fuel lines still attached? I know the tank is already empty, thank God I caught most of it with several buckets.

if the tank is empty you can just start dropping it untill the lines come taught.  if you lower it slowly you will see the what i mean.  also, when you go to remove it, sometimes it's easier to cut the rubber lines that connect from the sending unit and just replace them than it is to hassle wit disconnecting them.

I guess given the age it would be better to just replace them anyways! Cheers!

I put a jack under the rear portion and lower it down enough to remove the lines/wires.  In that link, it is as low as it would go.
