fuel fill and vent hose - where to buy

what would the most economical option be for purchase of the fuel fill and vent hose for my 87 short fleet 2wd.
is this something that i can find generic or are they some specialty molded piece that i will be forced to get from  
for $50?

Got to Carquest or the like where there are intelligent parts people. They have molded hoses you just have to cut to fit. I just did a set on my dual tanks. Fit mint.

i went to a bunch of auto parts stores and could not seem to find a molded hose for the fuel fill (at least one 90 degree bend) the only thing i found was straight hose which is no good for my application on the 87 tank install. is heater hose an effective substitute or must it be a special hose that is fuel specific? vent also?

Anything but fuel lines will be eaten away by the fuel

is the hose you used the one with the helical spring that you can bend without kinking?
i went to my local carquest and they had nothing 1.75" with a 90 bend. i also went to about 6 other parts stores including one well known place the professionals use, through the gates catalog he did identify a hose with the 90 bend but even his suppliers did not have it. i see classic parts lists the fill and vent hose as a set for 85-91 at $35 but for some reason the set for 79-84 is $50, different hoses?

for those novice guys like myself attempting a new tank install be aware that the vent and fill hose are not easy to find inexpensive generic items at the auto parts store. you will most likely have to mail order and expect to pay about $50. all that being said if i had known that beforehand i would have at least tried to salvage the hose rather than cut them off.

buy the way- i guess i should change the fuel filters along with the new tank installation, where are they located and is it easy access?

I looked at the hoses and I peeled the stickers off. The invoices are long gone so I called the guy at Carquest. He said he would look through the records because he remembered getting them for me and he is going to get back to me with the part numbers. They fit perfect
