Thunder Series AVS 650 cfm

I have an old 750 edelbrock that I was debating on running on my new 355. But with some of the feed back I have received on this site I think less cfm might be more practical? Engine specs 355 cid 9.8 to 1 compression,.480 lift cam .388 duration .232 @ .050, edelbrock air gap intake, nothing to radical. The guy building the engine said he would run a 750 Holley if it was him! I don't like messing with Holley's though! Is anyone running one of these thunder series avs edelbrocks? I'm leaning this way for now.......   old 750 performer or new 650 thunder series avs???

I would say more of a weekend cruiser. Maybe a couple trips to the track just for fun! I think the adjustable secondaries would be nice on the thunder series........

i run the thunder avs 800 on my big block.... its like the shiney holly i dont care for it much at all it works well when it works....i seem to have constant idling issues with it... to add to that ive had it on this engine put 2000miles on it and the throttle shaft leaks already which is a bugger when trying to get a nice idle

Anyone running one of those Quick Fuel Carbs? How are they? They look cool, but do they work good on the street?

This is typically caused by floats that aren't set right, overheated fuel, or blockage. If I run one of these carbs I ditch the sock filters and run a good inline fuel filter. A heat insulator gasket and torque it in an X pattern. So many people don't realize the way aluminum expands and you suddenly have a vacuum leak.

I went with a new 750 ebelbrock performer! I think it will work out. If it is to much you can down tune it right?

yea, you have to change the jets, though. I have a 650 on my 400 that's a little rich. They do tune them rich from the factory, I hear.
