I just ran across this post.  I have a '73 K-10 with a Hurst floor shifter.  The problem is that it is a generic, one size fits all, shifter.  It seems no one makes one specifically for the Chevy 3-speed.  It doesn't work very well; you have to shift very deliberately to keep from winding up jammed between gears.  If you are going to change out the transmission for a 4-speed I would just wait, unless there is something wrong with your column shift.

I have had good quality hurst 3 speed shifters that worked great.  I also have one of those cheapie Indy shifters on my 86 that the PO installed, what a piece of garbage.  This is one case where you get what you pay for...  But I for one would fix my column shift if I had all the rest of the stock linkage.

I have a bunch of stock linkages that might work, I kept getting the wrong ones ha. Or check the junk yard.

My shifter collar is broken so I need everything.  I haven't found even a bad one in the yards by me...
