hood release
« on: April 16, 2011, 09:43:03 pm »
my '80 custom deluxe did not have a hood release. Was this added in later models, or was it included in a trim package upgrade? I snagged one from the boneyard and am going to install it for a bit of added security.

Are you talking about the hood release that is inside the cab instead of in front ?  I believe the supports for the two are some what different, and take different hardware.

Pretty sure it was a mid year deal. I have had some with, and some without the inside hood release.

I think they started in 77 as an option although it may have been standard on high trim levels. (Don't quote me on this)

Standard on Silverado trim, optional on anything else.  I believe it was an option on later model 76's on Silverado trim.

Bake,
You are right. I was at the pull a part looking for something else and a hood release crossed my mind so I picked one up. Got it home and its a completely different set up. Hopefully I can make it work. Now I need to go back and get the part on the hood that goes into the latch. Anyone converted one? Just wondering how it will match up now height wise.

I believe if you change out the top of the radiator support with the correct one it will work, vile and capt are correct, my 77 silverado k10 came with inside hood release.
