I got the blazer here at the house and I'm gonna go pick up the 78 longbed tomorrow.  I'll start a build thread soon if any of ya'll want to check it out and chime in.  I'm sure I'll need plenty of help and advice.

I gave up on it for a while because I didn't trust my fabrication skills.  I also found a 1976 SWB to fix instead.  But my buddy really liked the '76 so I traded it to him for a 79 Z28.  As soon as I sell the Z28 I'm gonna try to tackle the Trazer project.

Any pics of the 79 Z28? I'm a huge fan of them.

Those are the only pics I got of it.  It looked awesome after I cleaned it up and put the hood on.  I ended up selling it this weekend though.  Now it's time to start on the trazer...after the races of course.

I started working on the trazer again yesterday.  I got the 2wd crossmember torn down and now I'm gonna try to fit it to the blazer frame and drill the new holes.  Hopefully it all goes smooth today.  I'll update when I'm done fitting it.

Here's my update.

The 2wd crossmember won't physically fit on the blazer frame.  The frame appears to be too wide.  I'm working on squeezing it down with ratchet straps, but so far it's not enough.  I may just have to cut the stock blazer frame bracing off then try again...DANGIT!...I hate cutting these huge factory rivets.

EDIT:
Looks like the previous owner slammed the truck on a rock/boulder or bottomed it out hard and bent the frame up pretty good, that's why the crossmember woundn't fit.  The section where the crossmember goes was hit from the bottom and dented in and that pushed the side out.  It's ugly and really disappointing.  The frame is also cracked in two spots where the steering box goes.  Any suggestions?  Should I stop while I'm ahead?
