looking for a smart th400 guy
« on: July 17, 2011, 04:27:39 pm »
I'm looking for a TH400 dude. Looking at the bottom of this trans there's 3-4 solenoids I still have fluid in my eye maybe3. Any way I'm having a shifting problem at about 45mph and when it goes from 3rd to 4th gear. also shifting is erratic in third the filter is clean no metal on the magnet in the pan, it's suppose to be a rebuilt trans. Any ideas? besides rebuild. detent cable disconnected. daily driver no time to work-on it have to grind it tomorrow.

(Solved) Hookup and adjusted detent cable and changed Transmission filter, the filter grommet was hard and leaking, also no drinks during repair.

You are all over the place here man. You've got a TH400 4 speed that is now a 700R4 with a dent cable disconnected and fluid in your eye is what I got out of this  ???

My recommendation is to put safety glasses on and start over.

All I know is it has 16 bolts on the pan and and it's Jameson 12 year old special reserve. I've been working 6*10s and thanks for your input I'll figure it out on my own

16 bolt pan sound like a 700 to me as long as the pan is square and not shaped like Texas.
