76 4x4 engine support and motor mounts used on 81 2wd frame
« on: November 22, 2011, 08:11:45 pm »
I'm converting my 81 long bed 2wd truck to 4wd. i'm using a 76 4wd long bed truck for parts and as a refrence point. Right now, i have the front end out from under the 2wd truck. I have pulled the cross member and engine mounts off of the 4wd. What i'm wondering is if the cross member and engine mount from the 4wd will work on my 2wd? If so, will i have to do any modifications and what would that consist of? I was also wondering if anybody had some kind of blue print of my frame that would show exactly where everything would bolt up. Any help on this topic would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

That should work with no modifications except for drilling the frame.
This is the only picture I could find of that area. Sorry it is so small.

Give me a long enough lever and a place to stand, and I shall move the earth or break this bolt...Whatever, just hold my beer!

I found this too. I was making a jig for that same thing here. I used the holes for the spring shackle, the ground clamp is clamped to one of the jig bolts.

Here I had it off and was just making sure it was welded good I guess.
