timing tbi motor
« on: January 24, 2012, 11:20:00 am »
How do I set the timing on an 1987 chevy half ton 2wd. 350/5.7 motor. I read on another forum of disconnecting a browm wire, setting the timing to zero, and plugging the wire back in and let the computer take over.
. Is that correct?
Is there any way to advance the timing or doin some "TEST AND TUNING"?

thanks for any advice,
Mike

The computer controls the timing on the TBI motors, so they only way to change the advance is to put in a chip or program one.  There is no way to "play" with the timing.

Yes, unplug the wiring in the harness and set the timing to 0 degrees, you could move it some, but not much as it could cause pinging.  If the motor is stock, I would set it to 0.
