th400 drain pan
« on: April 15, 2012, 12:06:35 pm »
I have a th400 that I changed the fluid in this w/e. One bolt doesn't want to go back in, like the hole is stripped out. Should I try a slightly larger bolt or a lot of thread tape on the original? It is the bolt right by the driveshaft, so as soon as I go past 5qts it starts to leak. Any info would be great. Thanks

Well first make sure none of the bolts are tight on the pan until ALL of the bolts are threaded in and if you still can't get the bolt to thread in try running a tap through the hole. If that doesn't work then you may need to either use a thread insert or go with an oversize self tapping bolt.
