Rear axle stamp location
« on: March 08, 2013, 12:24:34 pm »
Hello,  I have an 87 R10 Silverado 2wd and I'm trying to find out where the axle stamp location is located.  Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.   Thanks

What specifically are you looking for? If it's gear ratio i would suggest pulling the diff cover. That's the only real way to get accurate info ,plus if its like most of our trucks it could stand a change.

I did that and I came up with a 2:73 ratio.   I was just curious if that is what it came with since there was no rpo tag in the glove box.

My best guess is yes and here's why. Very few and far between are you going to find "someone" "Swapping" in 2:73's for rear end gears. Can it happen? Yes.. but not very likely..
