The "cup" just slides over the shaft and then tap it into place on the smooth "band" area just behind the speedo gear. You do not have to remove the shaft.

Hey thanks for your reply .....well i guess mine is missing. Trying to contact transmission parts places. I tell you they are slow to respond except one place and they carry the O rings i need but not the yoke tube or "output shaft sleeve" as it is called.

I had mine off recently to change the speedo gear, so it will be a slight interference fit as you tap it on. Mine was positioned about even with the forward most part of the shaft "flat" or smooth part.

As of yesterday i have all the replacement O rings on order as well as the yoke tube. The yoke tube seems to be a hard item to get from some places....they will email me if there is a problem getting one. Alot of the other transmission houses wont even call back after leaving them a message. I am like WTH!?......then one guy from a company kept emailing me part numbers ....with no prices mind you and it seems like he sends one part number a day. Customer service at alot of places nowadays suck royally. The bone head could have just called me to make things simple....plus they didnt carry the yoke tube. So i went with Makco Transmission Parts, LLC so hopefully things go well with them.

Did you try eBay?  Built Right transmissions has been very helpful to me, ask for Jim.   Make sure its spelled  Built Right.....not Rite

i noticed when looking up the part numbers for the yoke tube that there were two different ones the number was the same but one had a "U" in front of the number and the other had a "D" in front of the number....whats the difference? you also said "interference fit" i take it the "O" ring end goes toward the Yoke from the drive shaft and the smaller end of tube goes toward the speedo gear smooth section.....guess it doesnt go any other way...LOL.

I dont know about the letter difference.  As far as orientation the smaller end goes towards the speedo gear and the "O" ring end is what the yoke slides into. I just tapped it on gently and made sure it was centered on the shaft.

It's not a bad idea to use a sparing amount of red Loctite to help ensure the sleeve doesn't migrate on the output shaft.
