carbureted 350 to injected 454 swap guidance please
« on: July 11, 2013, 12:02:21 am »
I have a 77 k20 chevy that has a carbureted 350 and I recently aquired a 91 chevy 1 ton that has a fuel injected 454. I plan to replace 350 with the motor transmission and transfer case from the other truck and wanted to see if I was missing any parts in doing the swap. Im plan to pull the 454 with the wiring harness computer and everything along with the radiator, fuel pump, sending unit (possibly the whole gas tank) and ive read I'd also need to either swap the fuel lines or replace them with a proper setup but am not 100% sure about that yet, need the speed sensor, rig up a check engine light (so possible pull guage cluster and associated wiring from donor truck), and the obd plug . Is there anything I'm missing that also needs to be swapped? Or any thing i listed that i dont need to do. Also any problems or complications I may run into in the process. I know my way around working on and fabing stuff but its the first time I've attempted something like this. I tried google for hours but never really found anything. It all had to do with conversion kkits or going from tbi to carb nothing about a full carb to injection motor swap. So any input you may have good bad or whatever  to make sure im on the right track and not missing anything impotant is greatly appreciated.

dont know in your case but sometimes it easier to swap frames or just swap cabs.

Thanks for the reply but frame or cab swap would be easier motor wise but the 77 is my toy and I've already built up the front and rear suspension, got lockers and some minor body mods to fit 39 inch tires. Everything is set up and dialed in how I want except the motor. I did everything knowing a 454 would be going in at some point and the donor truck was offered to me for free from my brother in law so im ahead of the game already even if it's going to be a little more work. Just want to make sure ive got a good plan layed out and im not missing something before I get started.
