knowing when to sell
« on: August 30, 2013, 09:58:06 am »
Things are not looking to good out there for the classic car seller much less the truck guy. I have a 73 Custom Deluxe [ a keeper ] and a 75 F100 Supercab Ranger XLT.
My 06 Ram and my 73 CD will fit in my garage, not so with my Supercab. I fell in love with it, no rust, 390, auto, pw steering / brakes, AC 83,000 Oh yeah.
But I am in FL and anything that sits out dies, so as much as I love the truck I have it at a friends car lot for sale.

I took it there before eBay and Craig's List, to try and get top $. eBay has never got me top $ and CL, is %$&*.

My friend has a Smurf blood blue 69 C10 stepside on eBay now. It is going nowhere ! He got offered $10,000 for it last weekend, I think he should have took it.
He doesn't need the money to eat and the truck is garaged and not eating anything other than gas. But that was close to his asking price and there is the aggravation factor of selling it.
I guess when you get a fair price you should let it go ?

When I was into Fords I was always on the look out for a 1/2 ton Supercab.  My favorite year was a 78 F150 due to the lack of a catalytic convertor and no air pollution stuff on it.  I had a regular cab with the 300 I-6 and the 4 speed OD.  I loved that truck but someone stole it.  I could never find a suitable replacement.  I would join http://www.ford-trucks.com/ and start asking questions.  I can't remember their classified sections rules but there is a place to start.  I love the 73-79 F-series bodies and Ford made a good truck back then.  Actually the big 3 all had great looking trucks but my first love was GM so 6 trucks and counting that is where I will stay...

Have you ever seen the 6' bed  on a Ford Supercab ? I like an 8' bed, but if I had a 6'er it would fit in my garage. I also like the 71 and older Dodge trucks, but I am mostly a MoPar guy. Would kill to have a Dodge Dude pickup.
Had a friend with a 86 f150 300 4spd he loved it !
I like the look of Ford 73-79, Dodge 71 and older and Chevy 72 and older.
But for diving its 73 and up in all cases they are just better made trucks. Love the handling pw steering, brakes and AC [ Florida ].
What I would love to have after I win the lotto is a restored truck from the 50s !

I have seen a 59 Ranchero with a Edsel front clip and dash with a 302 pw steering brakes and AC. Now that type of thing is cool.

When I was still in High School I worked at a Mobil station.  The owner had a 77 F250 Club Cab short bed with a 360 2V 4 speed with the granny and a Detroit locker in it.  I loved that truck and actually borrowed it on vacation once.  That is what I was looking for on and off for several years, just in a F150 and 1978 or older.  My 78 had a locker in it with a highway gear and got over 20 mpg with it.
