« on: October 03, 2013, 08:41:30 pm »
i was wundering if anybody knows how(or if)you can swap out a74 hi-lo basic wiper switch for a 85 stock wiper switch that has a delay module plugged into the back.  The 74 switch hasw a blk / blu /blk with white stripe and a light blue wires, and a black and grey wire that go to the light bulb in the switch. the 85 switch has pink black purple grey blue with white stripe on it and grey wires. if it can be done how should they match up wire to wire. or else could you guys please lead me in the right direction. thanks alot!!
Thanks

The 85 switch isn't on the column?

?  At least some of the ones I have seen are integrated into the turn signal, I think he meant it the other way.

Thanks, the delay wiper switch was mounted on the dash in the 85,and i did look at the other thread.the touble is im going from 5 wires on the 74 (two of them just go to the light bulb all by themselves) to 6 wires with the light bulb wires integrated into the switch itself. and besides that a couple of the wires are different color purple and pink to be exact. its a little more than just plug and play, but not much. i just trying to figure out what wire was added and were to go with it as well as the other 5. any more ideas would be appreciated. im going out to give myself another headache with it but if i end up finding out ill for sure post it! thanks guys. one other thing the wiper swwitch with the delay came out of a blazer that had all the bells and whistles in it at one time. not exact sure on the year but by lookin it can be from 82 to 85 its got the 80 to 87 body anyway. thanks again
Thanks

All of the wiring diagrams are here:
http://forum.73-87chevytrucks.com/smforum/index.php?topic=11766.0

This one shows the wiper switch for the '74, but you'll have to chase the wires across pages:

This one shows the switch on the 81-87.  NOTE THAT THE CONNECTOR AND THE SWITCH INTERNALS ARE LETTERED BACKWARDS FROM EACH OTHER!  Not sure what's up with that, or which way to read it, as shown or as lettered.

I would print out all the pages of both sets, and then lay them out on the floor in order (match up the wires at the edges) so you can follow the wiring across pages.
