well you need to verify where its leaking, at one point you said its under the motor then you talk about the tank valve. a simple replacement of the fuel line shouldn't be hard you just need to figure out where and what line is leaking.

As Irish said, sounds like you have a fuel line that busted, easy to fix, you need to find the leak first and repair it.

If you can tell us where the wire came from and goes, we can tell you what system it is for and probably why it could have shorted out.
For a wire loom to short out like that and burn all the way through, most of the time it is from a direct short in that system and the wire could not handle the heat of the amps being pulled through the wire.  The wire heats up beyond it's capacity and melts.

That burnt thing looks like a hose to me. See the crimped fitting where it turns to what appears to be steel tubing?

Now that I took a closer look it does look like some kind of hose.  Jamie is that braided hose of some sort that burned in half ?  I wouldn't think it was metal braided the way it burnt, but it is too black to see clearly.

WOW!  That burned/melted TBI fuel hose caused quite a leak!  Check and service all of the engine, frame and cab grounds!  The engine may have grounded through the metal braid of the hose.  You definitely don't want that to happen again!  You may not be so lucky next time!

Yeah Irish, you'd think that sufficient heat to 'burn' that hose would have resulted in combustion.  Yet the OP stated it appears burned.  It would have been interesting to see the hose in situ, before it was removed, to determine the actual cause of failure (e.g., abraded, torn, over flexed, too tight a bend, crushed at some point in its life, or just lining deterioration, ?).  I think a fuel hose that grossly damaged is a source for concern until the cause is reasonably ascertained.  But, that's just me expressing concern for recurrence.  As you implied, fire and fuel don't mix!
